Lustre's Hambira and Whitmus Lead the Lions

The Lustre Christian High School Lions attended the Richey and Lambert Invitational on April 28 in Lambert where the girls finished in ninth with 16 points and the boys took sixth with 42 points.

Sophomore Jasiah Hambira was the boys star, earning all his team’s points, while Tiara Whitmus earned all the girls’ points. Both athletes represented Lustre at the Top 10 track meet in Glasgow on May 4.

Hambira placed fourth in the 200 meter run, finishing in 24.71. He won the 400 meter run in 54.93, a personal record. He also turned in firsts in the high jump, 6-00.00, and long jump, 19-04.50. He set a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 37-11.00 and claimed second place.

Whitmus placed fourth in the shot put with her personal record of 32-10.50. The senior took third in the discus with a throw of 96-05 and third in the javelin with a throw of 86-00.

Coach Lynn Unrau said, “I’m proud of all the kids and their hard wok this season.” The Lions are scheduled to attend the Gene Nelson Memorial Invite in Wolf Point on Friday, May 7 with events beginning at 9 a.m.
