Bantams Tie One, Lose One to Great Falls

The Glasgow Bantam Ice Dawgs battled to a 2-2 tied Saturday evening against the Great Falls Americans, but fell to the visitors 5-0 Sunday morning. The penalty boxes were the place to be during the pair of games, as multiple players took mandated breaks from play.

Bode Barnett found the back of the net first, putting Glasgow up 1-0 in the first period Saturday night on a power play. Great Falls put the puck past Dawgs' goalie Kolten Hansen twice in the second period to take a 2-1 into intermission. Aiden Price, on an assist from Tavin Boland, tied the game with 12:39 left in the game. The goalies held strong between the posts and the 2-2 score held for the remainder of the game. Glasgow outshot Great Falls in the game, 21 to 18, as Dawgs' goalie Kolten Hansen rebuffed 19 attempts on his net.

Great Falls served time for nine penalties, including a coaching unsportsmanlike and misconduct, which resulted in Coach Braxton Lorenz's ejection. Glasgow was called for 10 penalties for 28 minutes in the sin bin. Mason Hunter, Dillon Hughes and Connor Koski were all called for roughing in the first period. Hughes served time for tripping and unsportsmanlike conduct in the second period. Brody Hansen was sent to the box for interference and Charlie Cornwell was called for tripping in the third period. Hunter finished the game in the sin bin, serving time for roughing, throwing a stick and misconduct.

On Sunday morning, Great Falls took a 2 to 0 lead in the first period and didn't look back. They added two more goals in the second period and finished the game with a goal in third, while shutting out Glasgow. The Ice Dawgs outshot the Americans by a margin of 34 to 21, but could not find a way to put a puck past Dalton Courcy.

The Americans served time for six infractions in the game while the Ice Dawgs took 10 breaks at the officials command. Hughes served Glasgow's lone penalty in the first period, for interference. In the second period, Price, roughing; K. Hansen, roughing; Price, elbow; Tristan Powell, interference; and Koski, roughing, all drew the attention of the officials. Price was the star of the sin bin in the third period, drawing penalties for high sticking, fighting and misconduct. Koski, tripping, and Boland, elbow, also served time.

The Bantam Ice Dawgs return to play next on Sunday, Feb. 14 when they travel to Williston for a pair of games at 11 a.m. MST/noon CST and 3 p.m. MST/4 p.m. CST.
