Four Scotties Place at State Speech & Drama

The Glasgow High School Speech and Drama sent nine team members to the virtual state meet this past weekend and four of those team members came away with top 10 performances. Earning the honors were Chase Tarum for his humorous solo and the classical group composed of Bailee Baxter, Harley Edwards and Alesia Hopstad. Tarum placed with his performance of a Dave Barry piece while Baxter, Edwards, and Hopstad performed a selection from The Wizard of Oz.

Raelee Dowden, dramatic solo; Mason Swenson, memorized public address; Talon Laffin, humorous oral interpretation; Austin Lopez, spontaneous oral interpretation, and Emma Whitmer, spontaneous oral interpretation, also participated in the state meet for the Glasgow team. Whitmer, Laffin and Swenson made it to the semi finals at the virtual state meet, but fell short of making the final round.

"These kids overcame a lot of obstacles this season and finished strong," said coach Jodi Griffin in a Facebook post. "Coach McGee and I could not be more proud! Thanks to all of our supporters this season!!"
