Bantam Ice Dawgs Lose One, Tie One

The Glasgow Bantam Ice Dawgs traveled to Kalispell this past weekend where they took on the Flathead Fusion in a pair of outdoor games. The Dawgs lost their first game, 4-2, after a third period rally by the Fusion. They came back Sunday morning in a rematch which ended in a 4-4 tie.

On Saturday, Flathead found their way past Kolten Hansen to start the scoring. Glasgow's Tavin Boland answered back on an assist from Aiden Price to end the first period tied at 1 each. Neither team found the back of the net in the second period. Boland gave Glasgow the lead early in the third period with help from Mason Hunter, but Flathead rallied for three goals and the 4-2 win.

K. Hansen turned away 24 of 28 attempts on his net as his teammates put 24 shots on net at the other end of the ice. Connor Koski, tripping in the second, and Hunter, roughing in the third, both served two minutes in the penalty box.

Sunday morning, Bode Barnett kicked off the scoring for Glasgow, giving his team the early lead before Flathead scored two of their own to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period. Koski, assist Hunter, tied the game in the second period and Barnett gave his team the lead again with just over a minute before intermission.

The Fusion made their way past K. Hansen to start the third period, but Boland snatched the lead back for the Dawgs. Late in the period though, Flathead evened up the scoreboard. The 4-4 score held for the remainder of the game. Hansen faced 36 attempts on his home and the Dawgs offense fired 33 shots in the game. Glasgow had three penalties in the second period. Hunter, hooking; Charlie Cornwell, interference and Dillon Hughes, slashing, all served time. Koski was sent to the box in the third period for roughing.

The Glasgow Bantams host Great Falls this weekend at the Valley Event Center for a pair of games. The teams face off on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 31, at 8 a.m.
