Bantams Drop One, Tie One in Miles City

The Glasgow Bantam Ice Dawgs took on the Miles City Generals in a road trip rematch after their face off in Glasgow last weekend. The Dawgs took a loss on Saturday but battled back to a stalemate on Sunday. Glasgow penalties cost the Dawgs two goals on Saturday, allowing the Generals to score on two power plays. The Generals lone goal in Sunday’s 1-1 tie also came on a man advantage, while the Dawgs’ goal was scored short handed.

Miles City took a 1-0 lead in the first period on Saturday, scoring after a dust up on the ice put several players in the sin bin. Dillon Hughes was serving time for interference while Connor Koski was serving time for Joshua Llewellyn’s charging and misconduct penalties. Miles City was also down a player for a coincidental charging and misconduct call.

The Generals added two more goals in the second period before Glasgow lit up the scoreboard with 29 seconds to go before intermission. Aiden Price found the back of the net for the Dawgs with help from Mason Hunter and Bode Barnett. The Generals found their way past Dawgs’ goalie Kolten Hansen twice more in the final period for their 5-1 win.

K. Hansen faced 36 pucks between the posts for Glasgow while the Dawgs fired 31 shots at the other end of the ice. Miles City had eight total penalties in the game while Glasgow had seven, including a checking from behind and misconduct in the third period on Tristan Powell.

Sunday’s game was light on goals, but still heavy on penalties for Glasgow, who racked up seven infractions in three periods of play to Miles City’s three. Hunter hit the back of the net on a shortie early in the second period while Powell was in the sin bin for interference. The Generals tied the game on a power play midway through the third while Llewellyn was serving a roughing penalty called on K. Hansen. The 1-1 tie held through the final buzzer.

Glasgow put 22 pucks on target over three periods while K. Hansen turned away 27 of 28 pucks from between the posts.

The Bantam Ice Dawgs will hit the ice in Havre this upcoming weekend in a pair of games against the Ice Hawks. Friday night, Dec. 18, the Dawgs will take to the ice at 5:30 p.m. They will play again at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19.
