Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Letters To The Editor

In Response

Dear Editor,

I would like to respond to the letter to the editor from Karl Ward [The letter referenced was printed in the Nov. 4, 2020, issue of The Glasgow Courier titled “In Response To Oct. 28 Letter”].

His letter contends that our community does not need the money provided by visitors who suggest we should wear masks. The mask issue aside, he does not speak for me as a Valley County resident, nor do I believe he speaks for all the small businesses who count on tourism for all or part of their income. It does not matter where you are from or what you believe, all are welcome in our town and in our county.

We have many groups and organizations working hard to promote tourism. The Tourism Business Improvement District, Two Rivers Economic Growth, the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Association, to name a few. We also have events that rely on out-of-towners such as the Governor’s Cup and the Catfish Classic. These organizations and events bring in a lot of money to our area, which leads to a better life for our residents.

His assertion that we do not need their “left leaning” money is an affront to all the hard work and countless hours our community members put into making Valley County and Glasgow a great place to be for everyone.

Sincerely,

Madelyn House

Glasgow, Mont.
