VC Man Killed in Vehicle Rollover Near Glasgow

The Montana Highway Patrol reported that Daniel Rogenes was killed when he rolled his vehicle while traveling on Highway 24 South just outside Glasgow in the early morning hours on Aug. 30. The vehicle was discovered at 7:30 a.m.

According to the investigating trooper David Moon, Rogenes was traveling south near mile marker 72 between Glasgow and Fort Peck in a 1999 Ford Ranger. Around the Milk River Bridge he veered off the right side of the road. He then overcorrected and reentered the roadway crossing the center line before correcting again and sending the vehicle into a sideways slide. Rogenes then rolled multiple times into the east-side ditch before it came to rest on its wheels.

Rogenes was thrown from the vehicle and killed. He had not been wearing a seat belt. The cause of the crash is currently considered driver error. Moon said speed was not a factor and all other factors are currently unknown. The crash investigation is ongoing as of Sept. 1.

As of Aug. 31, 129 people have died on Montana highways. This time in 2019, 132 had passed away and in 2018 the number was down at 114. Of the 2020 accidents, nearly 70 percent were single-vehicle crashes and just under half were not wearing seat belts.
