Par 3 Shootout

“It was a great turnout,” Andy Newton said about Sunnyside Par 3 Tournament, “especially for a windy Saturday.” Twenty-four two-person teams showed up on July 18 for the chance to claim bragging rights.

At the end of the 27 holes, Jake Hughes and Trent Holstein just edged out Andy Newton and Todd Truscott, 73 to 74, to claim the number one gross score. Representing Wolf Point, Arnie Bighorn and Mike Boulds turned in a score of 77 to claim third spot gross.

Brady Braaten, after a multi-year golf hiatus, teamed up with Casey Burke for a first place net score of 46. Father-daughter golfing duo Zak and Mia Peterson took second place with their net score of 53.92. Katie Anderson and Karl Krause celebrated his birthday by scoring 55.83 points for a third place net finish.

Krause’s birthday luck continued as he claimed the inaugural birdie pool instituted this year, in which everyone with a birdie was entered into a drawing. He wasn’t quite done though, going on to win the post-tourney derby action. “I don’t know, it was Karl’s day!” laughed Newton.
