Unprotected Wildlands Community Presentations With Andrew McKean

Join Montana Wilderness Association and Montana Wildlife Federation as we celebrate eastern and central Montana’s remarkable public lands with Andrew McKean, editor of Outdoor Life magazine.

McKean, a Glasgow resident and avid backcountry hunter, will share stories and photos of the wild public lands he knows so well, along with his experiences living in eastern Montana and the challenges of conservation in this part of the state.

Many tracts of public land beloved by hunters in eastern and central Montana are unprotected or under-protected, leaving the very qualities we cherish about these landscapes in jeopardy.

One of the biggest threats facing these areas is oil and gas leasing under the outdated, industry-favoring federal oil and gas leasing program – specifically the practices that allow for speculative leasing by private industries on our public lands.

McKean will discuss the threats these wildlands face as well as opportunities to increase protections at the Sean Heavey Gallery, 529 2nd Ave. S., Glasgow on Thursday, March 5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation starting at 7 p.m. and concluding at 8 p.m.

In addition to the Glasgow discussion, he will also be traveling to Havre’s Visla Brewing on Wednesday, March 11, Celtic Cowboy in Great Falls on Thursday, March 12, and the Lewistown Art Center in Lewistown on Friday, March 13.

All events are free and open to the public.
