Scottie Orators Win Another

The Glasgow Scottie Speech and Drama teams made their way to Sidney on Jan. 4 to compete in their annual invitational, which drew a large swathe of Class A, B and C schools from the region. The meet was also the first competition of the new year for the Scottie Speech and Drama team as they head into the home stretch of their long season with some top competitors.

Carrying the speech team to their newest "Speech Sweeps" trophy were Isabelle Griffin with a first place win in Dramatic Solo – a spot she has earned consistently throughout the year. Griffin now has a perfect season having taken the first place slot at every meet. Coach Griffin said that it was the Sidney meet that cost her a perfect season last year. Also on top for the Scotties was Ian Wright in Dramatic Oral Interpretation who has also earned a first place finish in a number of meets this season. Rounding off the Scottie first place finishers was Donny Brabeck in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, an event he has performed consistently well at throughout the 2019-2020 season. In Sidney Brabeck won every round of debate in which he competed.

Discussing the teams performance and their continuous top-level performances, head coach Jody Griffin said, "This was a big, class A meet with lots of good competition for the kids. They held their own and did great! We were very proud."
