Reynolds Promotes Within to Fill Leadership Roles

Reynolds Market in Glasgow has some familiar faces in the management role. After the retirement of Debbie Tade in June, former assistant manager Lynelle Boucher has moved up into the store manager role, while current assistant manager Dillen Rasmusan took over Boucher's former role. Even though Boucher and Rasmusan have different stories on how they got into their new roles, their mission on how to fulfill that role is the same: be friendly, be helpful, and be present for the community. "I want an easy and happy environment for shoppers. For the shoppers, I want the store to be seamless," stated Boucher.

Boucher has been with Reynolds since 2015 and has been in a number of different roles including scan coordinator, bookkeeper and assistant manager. She grew up on a farm in Roulette, N.D., where her leadership skills grew and she has always gravitated towards leadership roles in her career. Growing up on the farm and in a small community, she had the opportunity to get to know a lot of people and become a part of the community, which helped her acclimate to Glasgow. She values the team she has at Reynolds and couldn't do the job without them. "Dillen is my buffer. He tries and makes my life easier. Everyone else here at Reynolds are my kids. I care so much about them," stated Boucher.

Originally from Glasgow, Rasmusan started a few months after Boucher in 2015. "I'm not really sure if I filled out an application. Terry Colbrese [former manager of Reynolds who unexpectedly passed away in 2017] just threw me a shirt and told me to get to work," laughed Rasmusan. In his time at Reynolds, Rasmusan has worn many hats and played a part in many departments including produce, meat, deli and bakery. He has also been the floor manager and night cleaner and has even been the building's plumber/maintenance man as needed. "He really has done it all," stated Boucher. "He has always been a go-getter. It's just natural he has moved up as quickly as he has."

The day-to-day tasks of a manager and assistant manager can vary on a daily basis, but Boucher and Rasmusan's main task stays the same, be available, be helpful and be here for the community. "Without the community, we wouldn't be here," stated Boucher. "There are few jobs where your job is to make customers feel at home," stated Rasumusan.

As a result of their mission, they have expanded the selection of not only grocery items but also household items in the store. As a result of the closure of Shopko, Reynolds has started to fill some of the void including stocking general merchandise such as make-up and small appliances. They have also expanded upon their school supply selection for those who need to replenish items during the school year.

As a thank you to the community and for their support, Reynolds held a Customer Appreciation Breakfast on Aug. 17 where approximately 150 people were served scrambled eggs, pancakes and link sausage in the deli area of the store. "This was our first year doing the breakfast and it went over really well!" said Boucher. Customers who participated couldn't get enough of the food with one stating "I'm so glad Reynolds did this so now I don't have to grocery shop hungry!"

In an ideal world, both Bouchler and Rasmussan would love to expand the building in order to get more merchandise and be able to pass along deals to the community. Even with the limited space however, they are willing to listen to ideas and do their best to accommodate requests.

One way to accomdate the community is offering the serivce of delivery to residents of Valley View Home, Nemont Manor and Prairie Ridge Village. Others in the community who might not have the time to walk the aisles can call in their order and pick-up. "We just want to accommodate the community. Whatever will make things easier for them, we will do our best," stressed Boucher.

Reynolds is located at 213 Klein Ave, Glasgow and they can be contacted at 406-228-2633.
