Check Forgeries Land Two in County Jail

A two-day long check forging scheme ended with the arrest of Philisha Fourstar and Ashley Bigleggins on July 27. According to a report from the Glasgow Police Department, the two have been arrested and charged with a series of offenses related to drug possession and operating a motor vehicle.

The two Wolf Point women are also under investigation for allegedly illegally possessing and writing bad checks from an account belonging to the Wolf Point Education association. Sgt. Robert Weber with the GPD told the Courier that the two allegedly traveled to Glasgow with the check book and wrote a check at a local restaurant on Friday.

The restaurant recognized the bad checks and notified the Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and law enforcement. The Chamber circulated pictures of the bad checks to area businesses and when the two allegedly attempted to write a second bad check at yet another area restaurant on Saturday the business manager called the police.

GPD responded and pulled the two over outside city limits. VCSO responded and a search during the arrest revealed that they were in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the car, Fourstar, was also charged with driving without a license and insurance. Weber also noted that Bigleggins was wanted for another warrant in Valley County for her alleged part in a theft ring a number of years back at a number of stores in Glasgow.

The two are currently being held at the Valley County Detention Center pending court appearances. At press time, Fourstar is charged with: Montana Code Annotated (MCA) 45-10-103 - Criminal Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia; MCA 45-9-102(1) – Criminal Possession Of Dangerous Drugs; MCA 61-6-302(2) -Failure To Carry Proof Or Exhibit/Insurance In Vehicle - Owner Or Operator - 1st Offense; MCA 61-5-212(1)(i) - Driving a Motor Vehicle While Privilege To Do So Is Suspended Or Revoked.

Bigleggins is charged with: MCA 45-10-103 - Criminal Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia; MCA 45-9-102(2) – Criminal Possession Of Dangerous Drugs - Marijuana (60Grams Or Less) - 1st Offense.

The investigation into the check forging is still ongoing. The investigation into the drug possession is being conducted by the Valley County Sheriff's Office due to the location of the traffic stop.
