Glasgow FLC Lutefisk Dinner

The First Lutheran Church of Glasgow hosted their annual Lutefisk dinner this past Sunday, March 24. The traditional dinner, usually enjoyed by Norwegian Americans on Christmas Eve, has been held for many decades at the local church, albeit at different times of the year.

An acquired taste, lutefisk is a specialty of air dried cod, soaked in water and lye before cooking, and served with a cream sauce. The meal is served with meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, lefse and orange sherbet. The additional offerings give some relief to those who have not taken to the fish. "Try the meatballs," said Pastor Todd Wright with a chuckle.

Dreary weather this year may have kept a few diehards from the feast as ticket sales were below previous years. According to Jennifer Fewer, one of the key organizers of the event, 18 people volunteered their time for planning, cooking, serving, selling tickets, and cleaning up after the dinner.
