Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop at Interpretive Center

The Valley County Extension Office is presenting an Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop on Saturday, March 9, starting at 9:30 a.m., at the Fort Peck Interpretive Center.

This workshop will provide beginners the opportunity to learn about bee production and care. Topics will include beekeeping equipment needs and the beekeepers calendar, presented by Rick Molenda, owner of Western Bee Supply; MDA apiary program and beekeeping laws and regulations, presented by Alyssa Piccolomini, of the Montana Department of Agriculture; bee biology and honeybee nutrition, when and what to feed, presented by Shelley Mills, of the Valley County Extension office; and what you need to know about hiving bees, presented by Patricia Gilbert-Ball of USACE.

There will also be a post-workshop hands-on activity comprised of making Dr. Hill’s Crabby Patty spring feeding supplements.
