Hospital Guild Honors Rosalie Palazzo

At their regular meeting Monday, Dec. 17, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, the Hospital Guild honored late member Rosalie Palazzo for her years of service to the guild and specifically for her initiation of the baby hat program.

To honor Palazzo, the Guild unveiled a plaque featuring her photograph and a knit baby hat to memorialize her contributions. The Guild also donated a nursing chair to be placed in the nursery for all new parents to use.

According to Guild members, Rosalie had dedicated herself to the hospital since her arrival in Glasgow in the early 1980s, and had initiated the baby hat program early on. "She would teach the ladies on the Guild and the nurses how to make the hats," commented multiple Guild members. The nurse in charge of maternity, Brandi Knierim, echoed the sentiment saying that Rosalie, "[W]anted every baby to have a new knit hat."

Rosalie Palazzo passed away last February. The plaque honoring her will hang in the nursery waiting area and the nursing chair will sit in the FMDH nursery.
