Dear Editor,

As the longest serving Sheriff in the history of Valley County, I feel the need to put some input into the job of Sheriff/Coroner.

The Sheriff/Coroner has many duties: the jail, dispatch, civil department, coroner, search and rescue and officer of the District Court.

To be a good sheriff, you must be a good manager. Tom Boyer has had 10+ years experience in the medical field in a hospital and home-health setting, which is more experience with crisis situations than most Sheriffs get in their term of service. He also has more than five years of management skills dealing with employees and the public. One of those jobs included doing background checks nationwide.

He is a graduate of the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and has two years experience with Valley County Sheriff’s Department.

I’m writing in Tom Boyer for Sheriff, how about you?
