Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Local Chef Competing for Best of Region

Local chef and owner/operator of Table for Six in Glasgow, Dyan Carlson, is one of eight semi-finalists in the western region competing for the 2018 Eggland's Best America's Best Recipe Contest. "I am representing the whole state of Montana, not just Glasgow, not just Valley County, but the whole state!," said Carlson, upon hearing the news she is a semi-finalist.

With her recipe of Montana Beef Fried Wheatberries, Carlson is competing with cooks from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Her motivation for entering the contest is simple, "I love the challenge of entering contests. Ever since I started culinary school, I have been entering contests," said Carlson.

Of her repertoire of recipes, she chose to enter Montana Beef Fried Wheatberries because one of the qualifications for submission is that the recipe must represent the state. "What better to represent Montana than beef and wheat. To me these two ingredients are iconic to Montana," said Carlson.

To help Carlson move on to the next level and be named "Best in Region," visit http://www.americasbestrecipe.com, make sure West recipes is selected, and vote through Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Once all of the Best in Region finalists' recipes are announced, fans will be asked to vote for the recipe they believe should be the Grand Prize Winner and earn the title of "America's Best Recipe." The Grand Prize winner will be awarded $10,000 and a year's supply of Eggland's Best eggs and "Best in Region" winners will receive $1,000 each. State winners will also receive prizes from Eggland's Best.
