Lady Scotties Defeat M-Ettes in Five Sets

The Lady Scotties took on the Malta M-Ettes at home Sept. 6. There was a sizable fan base on hand for both teams and the atmosphere reeked of competitiveness.

Glasgow fell to the M-Ettes 21-25 in the first set, but bounced back to defeat their opponent in the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-22.

The Malta squad didn't go down without a fight, however, winning the next set 25-20 and forcing a game five. The Lady Scotties dug deep to win the final game, 16-14.

For the Scotties, sophomore setter, Rachelle Glaser, led in assists with 31 of the team's 34 and senior libero, Cordelia Nickels led with nine digs. Senior Tehya Campbell finished the night with 12 kills and shared in the aces category with Anika Peters, Keely Fossum and Laura Ross with two each. Ross also finished with eight blocks at the net.

Glasgow traveled to Wolf Point Sept. 8 for games against the Lady Wolves. The Lady Scotties were unable to secure a single win, falling to Wolf Point in three sets: 24-26, 21-25, 15-25.

You can catch the girls' next home game on Friday, Sept. 14, when they take on Harlem. They will be in Poplar the following day, Friday, Sept. 15, for games against the Lady Indians.
