Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

For Clerk of the Supreme Court

Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter in support of Rex Rank as candidate for Clerk of the Montana Supreme Court. The office Rex seeks plays an important role in the licensure of attorneys in the State of Montana and maintaining records attendant to pending matters before the Supreme Court, as well as ensuring those records (when allowed by law) are available to all Montana constituents.

The Clerk of the Supreme Court is also an office rarely thought about by Montana electors and, as a result, votes are often cast based upon party affiliation alone. However, the office of Clerk of the Montana Supreme Court is apolitical in nature, and the Clerk neither makes political decisions nor implements any political policy.

Rex Rank has worked at the Court for 23 years as deputy to Clerk Ed Smith, who has held the office for the last 30 years. I had the opportunity to work with Rex for a year, and was consistently impressed by his competence, collegial attitude, and dedication to ensuring he executed the duties of his office to a level of excellence. Rex has broad bipartisan support amongst the Montana Bar, Montana District Court Clerks, and has been endorsed by seven former Supreme Court Justices who have previously worked with him. I have no doubt that Rex is the best candidate for the office of Clerk, and would urge all Valley County voters to support him in the general election this November.

Sincerely,

Dylan Jensen

Glasgow, Mont.
