Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Mary Lou Eide

Mary Lou (Molvig) Eide, age 91, of Glasgow, Mont., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, in Glasgow.

A Celebration of Life for Mary Lou will be held on Wednesday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m., at Bell Mortuary in Glasgow with Pastor Bonnie Novak officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following burial at the Cottonwood Inn.

She was born Mary Lois Nell Molvig to Susan Walde Molvig and Ole Christopher Molvig. Mary Lou was raised in the Tampico area where she attended several of the rural schools before the family moved to Glasgow.

She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked at several jobs including the Glasgow Stockyards before going to work at the Valley County Clerk and Recorder's Office. She was elected as Valley County Clerk and Recorder in 1955, and was re-elected until she retired in 1998.

After she retired, she was able to spend her days with her husband, Harold, farming and ranching. She met Harold in high school and they were married in 1948. Loving her job as Clerk and Recorder, as Mary Lou did, it was easy to see that working with Harold was what Mary Lou enjoyed most. While working for the county, Mary would drive to the ranch in the spring, when the road was passable. She would fix supper on a wood stove and get up to check cows throughout the night, then return to Glasgow in the morning to go back to work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; one brother, Glen "Buddy"; and two sisters, Evelyn and Betty Ann.

She is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the Schlabs, DeDobbeleers and the Borseths for the care and consideration they showed Mary Lou.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lou's name to Valley View Home, FFA or 4-H.

Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at bellmortuarymontana.com.
