Rodeo Committee to Host Spring Fling

April 25, 2018

In order to raise funds for the upcoming PRCA rodeo this summer, the Glasgow Rodeo Committee will be hosting a Spring Fling fundraiser on Saturday, April 28, at the Ridgerunners. A free-will offering dinner will be served consisting of roast beef and mashed potatoes, starting at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a live and silent auction with items including a three-day admittance to the Montana Circuit Finals in Great Falls with two nights lodging, a gas top barbecue grill, and a caliber rifle from D&G as well as handmade quilts, among other great prizes.

There will also be dancing with music provided by Badland Music Company, coming out of a 31-year retirement for this special occasion only. Band and committee member Myron Malnaa decided to get everyone together for a good cause while also giving the opportunity for the public to get out and have a good time after this long winter.

The Glasgow Rodeo Committee is a 501c3 organization comprised of people who help promote and better the PRCA rodeo every year at the Northeast Montana Fair. This committee also provides scholarships to students, organizes high school rodeos as well as continues to make the rodeo a better place for contestants and audience members.

According to Malnaa, last year the rodeo was the second highest paid two-day rodeo in Montana, as it brought in the best contestants and the best announcers in order to bring in the audience. In order to have a rodeo to be proud of and to have the community attend, the biggest and best entertainers, cowboys and cowgirls needed to participate and they needed to be enticed to participate. According to Malnaa, last year approximately 25 world champions participated. Malnaa stated the committee is grateful for the support of the Fair Board, individuals and businesses who have contributed over the years to ensure a bigger and better rodeo year after year.

There are big changes in store for this year, including Cowboy Keno and the top entertainer of Wild Child. Malnaa stated the Fair Board has been very generous in assisting with the costs associated with making the rodeo bigger and better, however, every year more funds are needed to continue to elevate the event.

The Spring Fling fundraiser is open to everyone of all ages.
