Marvin Barnby

Marvin Barnby, 90, passed away in Nampa, Idaho, on Tuesday, April 4, 2018.

Services will be at a later date.

He was born Aug. 1, 1927, to George and Francis Barnby. He married Clara Stein in 1950. They later divorced.

He was a veteran and served in the Air Force in Germany from 1946-48. In the Air Force he learned the trade of an electrician and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the National Brotherhood of Electricians Union. He worked throughout Montana as an electrician.

In his early career, he was a lineman for Opheim Northern Electric and later at the Glasgow Air Force Base. He also worked in Columbia Falls, Great Falls and finished his career in Colstrip.

He loved horses and gardening. He participated in many of the northeast Montana wagon trains. He shared his love for the wagon train by inviting family and friends to participate in the events. He owned his own covered wagon. If he wasn't on a wagon train, he could be found in his garden.

He is preceded in death by his son, Darrell Barnby, in 2001; three brothers; Dick, Dale and Don; and one sister, Fern.

Survivors include his son, Randy, and his wife, Marla, of Glasgow; one daughter, Karla, and her husband, Robert Newell, of Nampa Idaho; four grandchildren, Miranda Rice of Glasgow, Chad Newell of Kent, Wash., Lindsey and Landon Newell of Nampa; and one great-grandson, Ryan Rice of Glasgow.
