Valley County Sheriff Vernon Buerkle told the Courier that a Glasgow resident was arrested on DUI charges, as well as disorderly conduct, in the early hours of March 18. At press time, the driver remains in the Valley County Detention Center.

George Beckett also remains in the jail at press time on drug charges originating out of Phillips County, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Sheriff Buerkle asked that the public be reminded to turn on headlights when driving in the heavy fog.

Valley County Commissioner John Fahlgren was away when I stopped by to chat this week. At press time, he is awaiting the birth of twin granddaughters in Austin, TX.

Glasgow High School junior Brooke Westby will be appointed by the commissioners to the position of student representative on the fair board at the regular Wednesday meeting. Fair board appointments are typically made beginning in January. County Commissioner Bruce Peterson pointed out that anyone interested in serving on a county board should put themselves forward before July 1 of this year.
