Law Enforcement Brief

The last week for law enforcement was uneventful according to accounts coming from the Valley County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Vernon Buerkle reported that a vehicle roll-over occurred outside Hinsdale on Sunday afternoon at around 2:31 pm.

According to Sheriff Buerkle an off-duty Highway Patrol trooper and retired Valley County sheriff were traveling on U.S. Highway 2 east of Hinsdale when they saw the vehicle in the ditch. The two decided to investigate more closely, and discovered the driver was still in the vehicle. Sheriff Buerkle stated, “He may have been there for some time.”

Emergency Medical Services were called, and the Valley County Sheriff’s Office was notified, and the Montana Highway Patrol are handling the investigation. Alcohol was not considered a factor according to Sheriff Buerkle at the time of the interview. The driver was treated at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital and released the next day.

Wallace Dean Archdale Jr of Wolf Point was charged with felony criminal mischief for causing damages to the county jail fire suppression system. According to Sheriff Buerkle, Archdale was being held in Valley County on behalf of the Fort Peck Tribal Police, and he was set to be released back to their jurisdiction before he committed the criminal mischief offense.
