Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Changes at the Gateway Club

We all know how barren the dining scene can be in Valley County and elsewhere in the region, particularly with both Sam’s Supper Club and The Hanger closing up shop in Glasgow. So it’s big news that Fort Peck’s Gateway Club is running extremely smoothly as of December thanks to a change in management, new hours, and a new menu featuring hand cut steaks, quality seafood, and al dente veggies, etc., at an affordable price point.

Beginning in December, owners Jaydee and Dustin Mortenson brought daughter Kaylee Mortenson on as general manager. The difference is marked already. Kaylee told the Courier that she has taken steps to improve operations in the kitchen, particularly by bringing on her former boss, Stacy Britzman, who is a real addition to the eatery’s small staff.

Those of you driving from a long way off will appreciate the extended hours (11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday), as will the lunchtime crowd. Diners longing to combine making the loop with a reliable dining option will be pleased with the new dinner menu, also instituted by Mortenson, which pares down the portion sizes and prices on some of the larger steaks while keeping many customer favorites.

Kaylee’s Pub Steak & Shrimp, with twin flat iron steaks and sauteed shrimp, is easily the best surf and turf option around at $28. More moderately-priced options do abound though, so if it’s a dinner salad, burger or sandwich you’re after, don’t be scared off by the fine dining entrees. The 8 oz. flat iron steak on the lunch menu is just $16 and comes with a choice of excellent sides.

Rumored additions to the wine list and dessert options are in the works as well, so it looks like 2018 will be a particularly good one up by the dam.

The Gateway Club is located at 6001 S. Hwy. 24 in Fort Peck, across from The Lakeridge. For more information, call 406-526-3557.
