Bantams Drop Two Against Billings at Home

The Bantam Ice Dawgs opened their season with two home games against the Billings Jr. Bulls Nov. 11 and 12.

With a roster of nine skaters vs. a roster of 18, Glasgow had a bit of a battle on their hands, and they were unable to get a win for the weekend.

Although the Ice Dawgs out-shot their opponents in both games, they had less success hitting the back of the net to score.

Scoring one goal in each period, Billings blanked Glasgow in the first contest on Saturday night 3-0. Goalie Aidin Wilkoski stopped 24 of 27 shots on goal, while the Jr. Bulls denied 33 attempts.

Earning penalties for the home team: Gage Siefert – two minutes for interference in the first period, Michael Hoyer – two minutes for roughing in the first period, and Colter Barnett – two-and-ten minutes in the second period for checking from behind.

The Ice Dawgs played a stronger, cleaner game on Sunday morning, but fell short of a triumph over their opponent.

The Jr. Bulls began the game with two consecutive goals in the first period. Glasgow was able to answer with a score by Nicholas Burke before the period ended with Billings on top 2-1. While the Ice Dawgs finished the game with zero penalties, Billings earned a boarding call in the first period which resulted in a two-and-ten minute punishment, and recorded two more minor infractions in the third period.

Scoring continued back and forth for the remainder of the game with Colter Barnett scoring the remaining three goals for his team, but the Jr. Bulls managed to stay on top, winning 6-4.

Wilkoski denied 15 of 21 shots on goal, compared to Billings' 27 saves of 31 shots.
