Varsity Boys and Girls Sweep Miles City
Alaina Sallee (l) and Colin Jamba (center) begin their race at the Capital City 7 of 7 Invitational held in Helena Oct. 5. The state meet will be in Helena on Saturday, Oct. 21, so it was a great opportunity for the Scotties to learn about the course.
The Scotties competed in two meets last week. First, the squad was in Helena Oct. 5 to get a preview of the course they will be running at the state competion.
The Capital City 7 of 7 Invitational utilizes a different format than most meets, with seven separate, consecutive races held on the course. Each participating team was represented by their top seven boys and top seven girls, and the races began with the runners ranked seventh on each team. The day came to an end with the top-ranked runners from each school taking on the course. Head coach Rod Karst said it wasn't their best showing, but it was a good opportunity to get a look at the course they will be running at state.
With just one day to rest, the squad was in Miles City on Oct. 7. Glasgow swept the meet with both the boys and girls claiming the top spot. Ellis McKean finished first for the boys with a third-place finish overall, and Emily Kolstad led the girls with a fourth-place finish overall.
The Scotties will be in Plentywood for their final regular season competion on Saturday, Oct. 14.
