Roger Davis

Roger Allen Davis Sr., 77, passed away on Sunday evening, Sept. 17, 2017, at his residence in St. Marie, Mont.

He was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., to Fredrick and Eleanor (Rieske) Davis. He grew up in Rockford, Ill., with his younger sister, Sharon Davis-Grimmett and his brother, Terry Davis.

He joined the Air Force in 1956 at the age of 17. He spent his career teaching in the Physiological Training Unit. He was an instructor for student pilots in teaching simulated flying. He also taught parachute training and desert and jungle survival. He was a noted desert survival teacher who set up displays in a natural environment. His later years in the military provided him with the opportunity to be an Air Force Recruiter in the panhandle of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. He always met and exceeded his quota for enlisting recruits.

He was an active member for 54 years of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He always had a firm handshake and a humorous personality.

He is proceeded in death by one son, Aaron Davis, and his sister, Sharon Davis-Grimmeet.

Survivors include his three daughters, Deborah Davis of Dalton, Ga., Teresa Davis of Birmingham, Ala., and Rachel Etheridge of St. Marie; two sons, Roger Davis Jr. of Great Falls and Robert Davis of Billings; and 14 grandchildren.

Family received friends from 5 -7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Bell Mortuary. A graveside service took place in Sheridan, Wyo., at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21.
