Scottie Volleyballers Win Two Epic Battles

It was a close margin, but the Scottie volleyball team racked up another win on Sept. 7, against a very scrappy and determined M-ette team. With the exception of the first set, the entire match was a real battle as both teams saw wide swings in emotional strength and physical endurance. Lead changes were the norm, nerves wreaked some havoc and both teams had moments of brilliance and determination. The scores tell the story well: 25-12, 17-25, 25-20, 21-25, 17-15

The GHS C squad fell to Malta but the JV team had a very successful outing as they beat Malta 25-18, 25-20, 15-2.

The following day, Sept. 8, the volleyball girls hosted Wolf Point and had their hands full once again, as both teams fought through a very tight five set match. Ultimately, the Scotties were successful with scores of 25-20, 14-25, 29-27, 20-25, 15-9, but the game was no push-over. A very tall, strong and athletic Wolf Point team proved once again their reputation for being scrappy and determined, a style of play Glasgow also strives to achieve. The match-up created intense volleys, plenty of scrambles and incredible saves as both teams pummeled the ball relentlessly. Some very aggressive serving made the difference in the fifth set, and tipped the scales Glasgow's way.

The Glasgow C squad won in four sets, including a very decisive game four as Kaylee Ross served 15 straight points to lead her team to a 15-0 win. The JV team also dominated over Wolf Point, rounding out a perfect night for the Scotties.

The volleyball girls will travel to Poplar on Thursday, Sept. 14, then host Harlem on Saturday, Sept. 16.
