Ranch Rodeo Held at Fairgrounds

Team Salveson Wins Four of Five Events

A small crowd gathered to watch the Old Mil Ranch Rodeo held at the Valley County Fairgrounds on July 29.

Five teams competed in five events: branding, trailering, doctoring, cow milking and stray gathering. Following the team events, an individual bronc riding competition was held.

Salveson Ranch (Ken Salveson, Ted Brown, Lonnie Kaufman, Curt Bruckner, Jim Robinson) took the overall win with 48 points and Reid Ranch/Stensland Ranch & Livestock (J.D. Stensland, Brad Marshall, Pete Heryford, Lorin Larsen) placed second with 43 points. Third place went to Nelson Ranch (Don Nelson, Sheila Nelson, Ron Potter, Jake Kirkland, Scott Molvig) with 33 points. Wild Aces (Keith Nelson, Chisholm Christensen, Bodel Johnston, Nate Remmich) took fourth with 17 points, followed by Mint Bar (Jana Tihista, Stacy Harris, Jasmine Evans, Sophia Sibley) in fifth with seven points. To earn first place, Salvesons won the branding, trailering, doctoring and stray gathering competitions. Wild Aces took first in cow milking.

The ranch bronc riding was won by Avery Gurney from Sidney with a 69. Ty Murphy from Saco took second-place with a 68 and Daulton Peterson from Glasgow took third with a 67.
