2017 MT. Governor's Cup Youth Fishing Tourney


The 2017 Montana Governor's Cup Youth Fishing Tournament was held at the Kiwanis Park fishing ponds in Fort Peck on July 8.

Fishing began at 8:30 a.m. with 94 kids participating, and 89 fish were reeled in by the tournament end. The effective bait was provided by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, and Scheels of Billings provided tackle boxes to each participant.

In addition to free t-shirts and prizes, the participants were also treated to lunch and ice cream provided by Shelly George and Thrivent Financial.


5-and-under (30 kids-26 fish) 1st-Chassie Sikveland, Circle, 1.18 lbs.

2nd-Ava Budde, Glasgow, .92 lbs.

3rd-Oliver Paulson, Glasgow, .90 lbs.

6 and 7 year-olds (24 kids-22 fish)

1st-Beau Belik, Sawyer, N.D., 2.44 lbs.-biggest fish .66 lbs.

2nd-Sean Kincaid, Valier, 1.24 lbs.

3rd-Avery Schnatz, Bozeman, .78 lbs.

8 and 9 year-olds (15 kids-13 fish)

1st-Brynlie Boreson, Hinsdale, .76 lbs.

2nd-Tanner Goosen, Richey, .62 lbs.

3rd-Turtle Reynolds, Roundup, .44 lbs.

10 and ll year-olds (15 kids-14 fish)

1st-Gabe Haight-Roundup, 1.20 lbs.

2nd-Clansey Pinson, Livingston, .88 lbs.

3rd-Bode Bentley, Billings, .24 lbs.

12-and-over (10 kids-34 fish)

1st-Cash Salsberry, Malta, 1.51 lbs.

2nd-Jaren Sandbeck, Minn., .60 lbs.

3rd-Jaxson Ruter, Sidney, .58 lbs.
