Pearl L. Risa

 

Pearl L. (Luse) Risa, 98, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Billings, Mont.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 25, at 1 p.m., at the Opheim Community Church.

She was the youngest daughter of Frank and Sarah (Quinn) Luse. She was born on July 7, 1918, on the family homestead south of Glasgow, Mont. She attended schools in Glasgow and graduated with the class of 1938. She married Martin Risa in Glasgow on April 17, 1938. To this union eight children were born, Gordon Risa and his wife, Carol, Paul Dean Risa and his wife, Marlie, Curtis Risa and his wife, Donna, Patricia Vasecka, Pat Risa, Beth Groshart and her husband, Paul, Douglas Risa, and Julia Harpster and her husband, John.

She kept the house and helped with the farm chores, sewed, crocheted and made quilts at the church and at home. Many of the grandchildren have quilts she made with their names and dates of birth on them. She enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers and other plants. She also enjoyed visiting and traveling around the country with family members. She was also a Girl Scout leader and a den mother for Cub Scouts.


She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Sarah Luse; three brothers, Leonard, Walter and Archie Luse; two sisters, Faye (Luse) Breckenbridge and Rubie (Luse) Keilman; her husband, Martin, in 1977; and son, Douglas, in 2002.

After Martin's death, she and her son, Douglas, farmed the property and raised cattle and hogs until his death. She then moved into Opheim and lived there until 2010, when she moved to Billings to live with her son, Curtis.

She is remembered by her seven children and their wives/husbands, along with 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
