State Class C Track and Field Competition Held in Laurel

Area Class C athletes competed in their final meet of the season May 26 and 27 in Laurel. The meet was originally scheduled to be held in Missoula, but was moved to Laurel following concerns that the venue would not be ready in time.

The move was likely beneficial to our northeastern Montana competitors, with travel time cut in half and lower altitude levels.

The Frazer Bearcubs had the most individual medalists, with three of their athletes making the podium. Dallas Reese won silver in the shot put with his 53-01.75 throw while teammate Jayson Jackson earned a fourth-place medal with his 45-03.50 put. Also placing for the Bearcubs was Mya Fourstar with her 5-00 high jump.

Nashua's Taylor Laumeyer medaled in two of her four individual events. Her 35-foot throw in the shot put earned her sixth place, and her 112-11 mark in the discus was good enough for a fourth-place finish.

Trace Simonson of Whitewater finished third in the discus and Bailey Funk of Saco earned fourth place in the pole vault.
