Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Area Causes Receive Donation

Donald J. Baker, son of L.J. and Jean (Pattison) Baker, died unexpectedly of natural cases on Jan. 8, 2016, while enjoying a hunting trip in Mexico. He was born in Glasgow, and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1960. He went on to receive a master’s degree in architecture from Montana State University. He was also the design architect for the Northeastern Montana Veterans Memorial.

In May 2014, he established a trust which designated most of his estate to Montana-based charities and causes, with a number being located in Valley County. Over the past week, these organizations have been gifted donations from the estate, including the Markle Ambulance Trust, the FMDH Foundation and the Glasgow Elks Lodge Scholarship Fund.

Other local causes to receive donations from the estate are the Valley County Community Foundation, Fort Peck Theatre Preservation Foundation, First Lutheran Church Foundation and Glasgow High School Educational Trust. In addition to receiving a monetary donation, the Pioneer Museum has graciously accepted and displayed an extensive array of North America game animals that Baker collected on his many hunting trips. A total of $2,628.755 has been distributed and donated to these and other causes throughout Montana.
