Scottie Boys Fall to Mustangs at Northern B Divisionals

Bringing their basketball season to an end, the Glasgow Scotties fell to the Malta Mustangs in their third game of the Northern B Divisional basketball tournament, which was held in Cut Bank Mar. 2-4.

The five starters for the weekend were: seniors Trent Herbert, Luke Breigenzer, Tyler Hersom and Brayden Ross, and sophomore Cade Myrick. Coming off the bench were Bryce Legare, Ellis McKean and Tim Wageman. In their first game of the tournament, Glasgow was matched up against the 1B Shelby Coyotes. Shelby out-scored the Scotties in three of the four quarters, and came away with a 53-40 win.

By the end of the game, the Scotties were in some serious foul trouble, with Herbert, Breigenzer and Legare all fouling out, and Ross knocking on the door with four.

It definitely gave the Coyotes an edge as they completed 67 percent of their free throw attempts. In comparison, Glasgow finished just 38 percent of their shots at the line.

While Myrick led the team in scoring with 13, Herbert recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Defensively, each of the starters worked hard off the boards and the Scotties finished with 41 total rebounds.

In their second game of the tournament, the Scotties faced the Harlem Wild Cats. Glasgow came into the game with two regular-season wins against the 2B opponent, and were looking to add another.

The Scotties captured the lead right away, and maintained that lead for the entire game, finishing on top 56-39.

Myrick was a key factor in the win, with 33 points credited to him in the contest, which was more than half of the team's total points. Herbert again finished in the double digits with 12 points. Breigenzer contributed with four rebounds, three assists, one block and a steal.
