Scottie Wrestling Produces Two Divisional Champs

Glasgow was host to the Eastern B/C Divisional wrestling tournament Feb. 5, and with 11 placers and two divisional championships, the Scotties were rewarded for a season of hard work.

Shepherd topped Glasgow by just four points to claim the third-placed spot. First and second places were secured by the powerhouse teams from Colstrip and Huntley Project.

Individually, the Scotties were solid. Although the team had recently been affected by illness and prevented senior Presly Hallock from competing at the tournament, the squad left it all on the mat in their quest for a trip to the state tournament.

Not surprising, Matt Reyling (120) and Tony Kaiser (182) both earned the top spot on the podium for their weight classes, and they were both undefeated in the tournament.

Gabe Hallock, who has had an impressive season, placed second at 113, losing by fall (4:30) to Circle's Lincoln Stormer (34-4) and punched his ticket to state.

Three other grapplers fill out the roster of Scotties headed to Billings to compete at the state tourney. Jake Meiers (103), Cale Swanson (138) and Kaden Zimmerman (126) will all make the trip to represent the GHS freshman class.

Other placers at the divisional tourney were: John Cremer (126), 5th, Oden Hallock (132), 6th, Mitchell Overvold (138), 6th; Darrin Wersal (170), 6th; and Trevor Overvold (182), 6th.

Wrestling at 205, but not placing at the tournament were junior matmen Kevin McDonald and Justin Walton.
