14U Ice Dawgs Earn Two More Wins

Record Extends to 8-5

The 14U Lady Ice Dawgs scored two wins in Havre Jan. 14, bringing their overall record to 8-5.

The girls get plenty of games in as they participate in both the MAHA league and the NDAHA league.

Right now, they are 0-5 against the North Dakota teams and 8-0 in Montana.

Head coach Paul Provencher indicated that the girls are really playing well together and credits their success to the girls believing in one another.

Glasgow 3, Havre 2

In a penalty-free game the Lady Ice Dawgs defeated the Lady Ice Hawks 3-2. Glasgow played possum a bit, saving their energy for the third period when they hit the back of the net to answer Havre's two goals in the second period.

Brooklyn Schmidt scored the first goal for the Ice Dawgs, unassisted, followed by an unassisted goal from Klaire Krumwiede. Putting a period on the game late in the final period was Zoey Crater with the assist going to Schmidt.

In the net for Glasgow, Lizzie Nyquist saved 18 of 20 shots on goal.

Glasgow 6, Havre 1

In their second game of the day, the Lady Ice Dawgs earned their second win over Havre 6-1.

Krumwiede set the tone with the first shot at the five-minute mark, unassisted. Crater scored the first of her hat trick in the game with an assist from Mayme Collins to finish the first period.

Just 34 seconds into the second period, the duo of Crater and Krumwiede found the back of the net for Crater's second score. Midway through the period, the Ice Hawks lit up their side of the scoreboard with a goal by Jocelyn Staples – the assist credited to Marki Benjamin and Grace Ymzon.

After that, the Glasgow defense shut down Havre and prevented any further goals.

Offensively, however, the Ice Dawgs weren't finished. Crater earned two more points for the team with assists going to Schmidt, Tatum Provencher and Shanice Lagerquist. Schmidt also sent one in between the pipes with the assist going to Krumwiede.

Earning infractions for the Ice Dawgs were Skyler Wesely (two minutes for hooking) and Tori Pehlke (two minutes for body checking).
