Georgie Kulczyk / The Courier

Scottie senior Lexi Nixdorf looks for an opening while the man in stripes watches for infractions during the Dec. 15 game against the Sidney Lady Eagles. Nixdorf scored 13 points in Sidney and added another 9 in the Dec. 17 game against North Country in Saco.

The Lady Scotties are on a roll, but some of their toughest opponents are still ahead.

In two non-conference games against Sidney (Dec. 15) and North Country (Dec. 17), the girls extended their winning streak to 4-0. On Dec. 20, they faced the Poplar Lady Indians, who upset the Malta M-Ettes on Dec. 17, ending their 54-game winning streak. After the holiday break, the Lady Scotties will have to face the M-Ettes, who will be looking to redeem themselves after the painful loss to Poplar. On the bright side, both games will be held at GHS, in front of the hometown crowd.

Glasgow 36, Sidney 34

Glasgow pulled off a win against Sidney, although the girls seemed to lack their usual harmony.

The five starters for the contest were Khloe Krumwiede, Leinie Hughes, Lexi Nixdorf, Tyra Johnson and Jordan Kulczyk. Coming off the bench were Demi Aune, Ashtyn Myrick and DJ Rasmusan. Offensively, the Lady Scotties were led by Nixdorf with 13 points and Hughes with 12, which accounted for 25 of Glasgow's 36 points. Sidney earned nearly three times more fouls than Glasgow, but the Lady Scotties were unable to be effective at the free throw line, completing only 29 percent of their attempts.

In rebounds, Krumwiede and Hughes led the team with six each followed by Johnson, who had five.

Glasgow 50, North Country 28

In a good display of teamwork, Glasgow defeated the Lady Mavericks in Saco. In addition to the five starters, Aune, Myrick, Rasmusan and Anika Peters all came off the bench to get some playing time during the contest. Hughes led the team with 16 points, followed by Nixdorf and Krumwiede, who both had 9. The Lady Scotties struggled at the free throw line again, completing only 42 percent of their attempts. Krumwiede, however, was a bright spot for the team at the charity stripe, going three for three.

Johnson finished with eight rebounds, with Hughes and Krumwiede each grabbing seven. Krumwiede also led in assists with eight and steals with seven.

Starting for the North Country Mavericks were Jada Sudbrack, Casity Boucher, Mickayla Johnson, Bailey Funk and Kayleigh Cummings. Coming off the bench were Kia Wasson, Kaitlyn McColly and Kelsee Cummings.
