Four Games, Four Wins for 14U Ice Dawgs

Crater Earns Triple Hat Trick

The 14U Lady Ice Dawgs earned four wins in home games held at the Valley Event Center Dec. 10 and 11.

Glasgow 11, Miles City 1

In their first game of the weekend, the 14U girls faced Miles City and came away with an easy win over the Generals.

The Ice Dawg's defense held Miles City to just seven shots for the entire contest, and goalie Lizzie Nyquist denied all but one of those.

Offensively, Glasgow dominated as well. Defenseman Klaire Krumwiede started things off for the Ice Dawgs with the only goal in the first period, unassisted.

The next two periods were a flurry of scoring for the girls. Scoring in the second period were: Shanice Lagerquist (2) with assists from Tatum Provencher, Zoey Crater, and Kylie Lagerquist, Tori Pehlke; Tori Pehlke assisted by Brooklyn Schmidt; and Crater unassisted. The Generals would manage a short-handed goal late in the period, but it would be the one and only score of the game for them.

Glasgow finished the game with five more goals. Schmidt had two unassisted; Crater scored twice with assists from Krumwiede, and S. Lagerquist scored with the assist going to Tatum Provencher.

The game was penalty free for the Ice Dawgs, and Nyquist earned six saves. Crater, S. Lagerquist and Schmidt each recorded a hat trick during the game.

Glasgow 10, Miles City 0

The Lady Ice Dawgs repeated their success in their second game against the Generals, with Nyquist earning a shut-out. Krumwiede again started a scoring streak with the first goal of the game with an assist from Schmidt. Also scoring in the first period were S. Lagerquist off Provencher and Ava Lloyd with the assist going to K. Lagerquist.

Scoring in the second period were: S. Lagerquist off Crater and K. Lagerquist off Pehlke.

Going into the third and final period, Glasgow had a 5-0 lead over the Generals. The Lady Ice Dawgs had no mercy, however, and went on a five-goal scoring streak to finish the game. Provencher hit the back of the net with the assist going to K. Lagerquist and Krumwiede. Crater scored four consecutive goals to clinch the hat trick with Skyler Wesely, Pehlke, Krumwiede and Schmidt earning the assists.

For the shut-out, Nyquist saved 10 of 10 shots, and Crater earned a hat trick. No penalties were recorded for the Ice Dawgs.

Glasgow 8, Havre 2

The Lady Ice Dawgs faced the Havre Ice Dawgs at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, and earned the win.

Glasgow's defense prevented Havre from scoring in the first two periods of the game.

For the third game in a row, Krumwiede earned the first goal of the game – less than a minute into the contest – unassisted. Crater also scored unassisted to finish the period with Glasgow in the lead 2-0.

Scoring for Glasgow in the second period were: Provencher (2), one unassisted and one assist going to S. Lagerquist; Krumwiede assisted by Lloyd; Lloyd assisted by K Lagerquist and Pehlke; and Crater unassisted.

The Ice Hawks were finally able to get a few in between the pipes in the final period, with Jocelyn Staples grabbing both goals for her team. K. Lagerquist scored the final goal for Glasgow with the assist going to Crater. Nyquist finished in the net with eight saves. Krumwiede earned the only infraction of the game with a two-minute penalty for slashing in the third period.

Glasgow 6, Havre 4

For their final game on Sunday, the Ice Dawgs defeated the Ice Hawks, but it would be the closest scoring game of the weekend for them. In a repeat of their first three games, Krumwiede knocked in the first puck of the game, unassisted. The Hawks were able to answer with a goal before the period ended with the score tied up 1-1.

In the second period, Glasgow outscored Havre 3-1, with goals going to Crater, unassisted; Crater assisted by K. Lagerquist; and Schmidt assisted by Pehlke.

The Ice Hawks fought hard in the third period to gain ground against Glasgow, but the Lady Ice Dawgs maintained their lead and finished with the win. Scoring in the final period were Provencher unassisted and Crater off Mayme Collins.

Crater served two minutes in the first period of the game for tripping. She also earned her third hat trick of the weekend. Nyquist finished in the net with 16 saves.

The 14U girls are scheduled to be in Dickinson Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18 for games against the Outlaws.
