Boys 2nd, Girls 3rd at Havre Invite

State Meet on the Horizon

With her fifth-place finish, Brooke Westby led the Scottie girls to a third-place finish at the Havre invitational cross country meet held Oct. 1.

With just two more regular season meets to go before the state cross country meet in Kalispell, the Scotties are going strong.

The varsity and JV runners competed at the Havre Invitational Oct. 1. The Scottie boys placed second overall just behind Fergus, with Ellis McKean leading the team with his fifth-place finish. The girls placed third behind Fergus and Havre, with Brooke Westby claiming the top spot with her fifth-place finish.

Varsity boys team scores: Fergus 34, Glasgow 57, Havre 78, Browning 111, Belt/Centerville 211, Shelby 227, Rocky Boy 244, Poplar 259. No scores for: Hays Lodge Pole, Frazer, Great Falls Central, Harlem, Dodson/Whitewater, and Cut Bank.

Varsity boys individual scores: Ellis McKean, 5th, 17:19; Ike Braaten, 11th, 17:40; Wilson Overby, 12th, 17:46; Merlin McKean, 13th, 17:57; Jacob Meiers, 16th, 18:17; Colin Jamba, 23rd, 18:48; Kaden Zimmerman, 36th, 19:53.

Junior varsity boys individual scores: Trevor Johnson, 1st, 20:22; John Cremer, 8th, 21:21; Presly Hallock, 4th, 21:59; Tony Kaiser, 9th, 22:45; Nathanael Lippert, 5th, 23:42; Jaysen Turner 8th, 24:12; Jordan Billingsley, 9th, 24:14.

Varsity girls team scores: Fergus 66, Havre 70, Glasgow 80, Browning 90, Poplar 115, Malta 217. No scores for: Great Falls Central, Box Elder, Harlem, Rocky Boy, Frazer, Belt/Centerville, and Hays Lodge Pole.

Varsity girls individual scores: Brooke Westby, 5th, 22:02; Emily Kolstad, 10th, 22:22; Morgan Guttenberg, 16th, 23:00; Brinlie Nielsen, 19th, 23:06; Alaina Sallee, 30th, 23:51; Ali Cunningham, 37th, 25:03; Tyisha Begs His Own, 43rd, 26:11.

Junior varsity girls individual scores: Katie Kaiser, 3rd, 24:18; Nicole Williams, 15th, 27:22; Faith Sallee, 19th, 27:45; Natalia Melnyk, 31st, 29:05; Alexus Nistler, 44th, 30:34; Mattea Piersak, 45th, 30:35.

The Scotties will be in Miles City on Saturday, Oct. 8.
