Shawn Newton Takes Home Emmy for Directing

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Northwest announced the winners of its 53rd Annual Emmy Awards on Saturday, June 4, in Seattle. Television professionals and industry leaders attended the ceremony to support and recognize the nation’s outstanding television producers and content creators.

Shawn Newton, director of Creative Content for the Montana Television Network, brought home awards for Historical Documentary as writer, director, producer and editor, and also received the 2015 Emmy for Directing along with his Co-Director Carley Rainey.

The awards were judged by active Television Academy members and reflect industry standards of quality, imagination and innovation across categories including comedy, drama, documentary and unscripted series.

The awards were given for their work on, On The Mountain, a documentary detailing building Our Lady of the Rockies in Butte, and recollections 30 years later of some members of the community that built the 90-foot statue on top of the Continental Divide.
