GHS Hires New Girls Coach

Nielsen Replaces Kolstad

The Lady Scotties have yet another new head basketball coach. Travis Nielsen has been hired to replace Jon Kolstad, whose contract was not renewed after two years of coaching.

Interviews were held at the district office Monday afternoon, and were conducted by GHS activity director Brenner Flaten, GHS principal Shawnda Zahara-Harris, and Middle School principal Mike Zoanni. Two candidates were interviewed: Nielsen and Glasgow resident, Mike Myrick.

Nielsen is originally from the Nashua area, where he played four years of basketball for the Porcupines. In addition, Nielsen played for the Tetons in Williston for two years.

His coaching experience includes two years as the eighth-grade girls' basketball coach and several years of coaching traveling basketball teams.

Nielsen indicated that communication will be key when dealing with challenges throughout the season and building relationships with parents and players.
