Carlos Gonzales works for a turn at the Circle Invitational held this past weekend. Gonzales was one of many Glasgow Highlanders participating in the invitational.
With the Glasgow Wrestling Club competing in three different states this past weekend, the Highlanders were well-represented.
The GWC sent 38 grapplers to the Circle Invitational, the Black Hills Nationals in Spearfish, S.D., and the Rocky Mountain Nationals held in Denver, Colo.
Returning from Circle with some hardware were: Tot - Aiden Aune, Saunten Gamas, and Jack Morehouse, first; Hunter Pierce, Tay Morehouse, and DC Flaten, second; Weston Kirkland and Rivers Sugg, third; Ira Moore, fourth.
Bantam – Cody Kuka, first; Hank Hopstad and Wheeler Damboise, second; Ethan Engstrom, third; Gavin Redstone, fifth.
Midget – Riley Overvold and Wyatt Sugg, first; Ted See, second; Tavin Boland, third; William Kirkland and Roman Fast, fifth.
Novice - Kohl Kittleson, first; Blake Overvold, Levi Overvold and Jake Kuka, second; Carlos Gonzales, fifth.
Schoolboy – Ty Kittleson, second.
Claiming first place in Spearfish was Trevor Overvold. Colton Fast earned third, and Blaine Myrick, seventh.
Returning from the Rocky Mountain Nationals in Denver with two separate titles was Jaydeen Hanshew. Hanshew was double-bracketed and brought home second and third place in his events. Also snatching dual hardware was Kyler Hallock with a second place in freestyle and a fifth place in folkstyle. Grady Nielsen and Ethyn Schindler both brought home sixth place medals.
