Lynnette Springberg

Born Aug. 7, 1940, in Billings, Mont., Lynnette (Jung) Springberg was the daughter of Joseph and Lucille Jung. She grew up in Glasgow, Mont.

She received her undergraduate degree in sociology from St. Catherine College (now university) in St. Paul, Minn., and later her MSW from the University of Utah.

She served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force as a clinical social worker and was department chair of social work at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

After completing overseas assignments at Osan Air Base, Korea, and Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, she married fellow Air Force officer Peter Springberg while assigned to the Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

She retired from the Air Force in 1996 as a Lt. Colonel, and following her husband's retirement, they moved to Fort Collins in 1999. Here she continued to see mental health patients up until shortly before her death. Having received advanced training in group psychotherapy, Masters & Johnson Sex Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, she worked with victims of sexual abuse as well as veterans and others with PTSD in a pro bono capacity.

She had a passion for volunteering and helping others and also volunteered as a fashion model for a number of businesses and organizations.

Survivors include her husband, Peter; one sister, JoAnn Kline and her extended family; a step-daughter, Robin Springberg Parry and her family; and numerous surrogate children and grandchildren and close friends.
