Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital hosted the 12th Sara Bell Memorial Nursing Conference at the Cottonwood Feb. 11-12. The conference was organized by FMDH Director of Nursing Brenda Koessl to honor Dr. Gordon Bell's wife Sara Bell, who passed away several years ago from inflammatory breast cancer. According to Koessl, "We had extra slots open on day two of the conference so I invited the Glasgow High School science teacher and 11 of his students to attend." She added, "One high school science student from Nashua attended. These kids are interested in science and/or the medical field and really enjoyed the conference." In adherence to their mission, FMDH admitted students free of charge in the hope of encouraging them to pursue careers in healthcare.
