Speech and Drama Qualifies Seven for State Meet in Ennis

Glasgow Speech and Drama attended the Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament in Roundup this past weekend, qualifying 7 out of 10 team members for the state meet this weekend.

Coach Matt Bacon was complimentary of the whole team and expressed satisfaction with the solid results they achieved.

“I was extremely proud of Morgan Miller for her series of outstanding performances leading her to a first place finish in Dramatic Solo Acting,” said Bacon. “Mariah Holter also delivered with a second place finish in Pantomime.”

Finishing fourth in each of their events with strong performances were Amy Nelson in Memorized Public Address, Amber O'Mara in Humorous Oral Interpretation, and Max Knodel in Original Oration.

In the Extemporaneous Speaking category, Andy Brandt claimed second place and Thomas Sebastian grabbed third place to round out the state qualifiers.

Also competing, but coming up short of qualifying for state were Reece Hunsley, Jrake Gutow, and Seth Orth. Bacon was impressed with the effort they have put in this year to develop their skills and said, “Coach Boelman and I look forward to seeing what they will accomplish next year.
