Lady Scotties Clip Eagles' Wings

North Country Girls Deny Glasgow, Again

Glasgow 46, Sidney 36

The Lady Scotties grounded the Sidney Lady Eagles in a Thursday night game last week, improving their record against class A opponents to 3-0.

Starting the game for the Scotties were Khloe Krumiede, Abbi Kolstad, Jordan Kulczyk, Leinie Hughes, and Tyra Johnson. Coming off the bench was sixth man Lexi Nixdorf.

Demi Aune, Kaylee King, Ashtyn Myrick and DJ Rasmusan all logged some playing time in the game as well.

Capitalizing on their fast breaks and effectively sinking some bunnies, Glasgow had strong consistent scoring throughout the game, outscoring Sidney in three out of four quarters. The Lady Scotties' free-throw percentage was also spot on at 100 percent, with four out of four attempts successful.

The girls demonstrated effective teamwork, sharing the load of rebounding and scoring during the contest: Kolstad led the scoring with 14 points and she grabbed three rebounds. Krumwiede scored four game points and had as many rebounds. Kulcyk and Johnson matched stats with both girls scoring ten points and recording three rebounds. Hughes scored eight points and claimed four rebounds during the game. Also grabbing rebounds were Nixdorf, Aune, and Myrick.

It wasn't all roses and rainbows, though, as the girls turned the ball over to the Lady Eagles 24 times. North Country 44, Glasgow 35

Glasgow just couldn't muster up enough offense to faze the Mavericks in Friday night's game held at Saco Gymnasium. The Lady Scotties seemed unsure how to penetrate the Lady Mavs' defense and were held to their perimeter for most of the game.

Defensively, the Scotties were able to hold North Country's Tatum Moore to 10 points in the game, but could not deny Mickayla Johnson under the basket. Johnson was the top scorer for North Country with 19 points and led her team to their second win against Glasgow with a final score of 44-35. Also scoring for the Lady Mavs: Jada Sudbrack 8, Bailey Funk 1, and Kayleigh Cummings 6. At the free-throw line, North Country had 67 percent success, sinking 8 of 12.

The Lady Mavericks played their starting five (Sudbrack, Johnson, Moore, Funk, Cummings) and their sixth man, Casity Boucher for the entire contest. In addition to their starters, the Lady Scotties also rotated in Nixdorf, Aune, and Myrick.

It looked as if turnovers would be a factor in the game for the Lady Scotties, but they were able to minimize the damage in the second half with only three team turnovers.

The top scorer for Glasgow was Johnson with 14 points. Also contributing: Krumwiede 3, Kolstad 8, Kulczyk 4, Hughes 3, and Myrick 3. Out of 17 opportunities at the charity stripe, the Lady Scotties were ineffective with only 41 percent (7) of their attempts making it in.

After the win against Sidney and the loss to North Country, the Lady Scotties sit at 8-4 overall.

Coming up, the Scotties will be on the road for a Friday night contest vs. the Poplar Indians, and will face the Glendive Red Devils at Scottie Gymnasium on Saturday. The North Country Mavericks will be in Frazer on Friday to take on the Bearcubs.
