Lucky Clover Seeks Funds

The Nashua Lucky Clover Club is one of the oldest branches of 4-H in the state. Chartered in 1954, the club has been a consistent contributor to community causes throughout its history. According to Clover alum Joe Laumeyer, there was talk of calling it quits this year. Thankfully, members of the Laumeyer family (Caden, Taylor and Trace) teamed up with Adi Elverud and Chloe and Sophia Koessl to keep the group alive. The Clovers may be small in number, but rumor has it that a family of Hoosiers (a recent addition to Nashua) is contemplating swelling their ranks by as many as three.

The first order of business for this year's club has been to refill their coffers after a 2014 donation of $2,000 to the Nashua School for park benches and other playground equipment. "The club keeps our eyes and ears open about the needs of the community," said Laumeyer. Apart from participation in the Northeast Montana Fair & Rodeo, the group has lent its energies to Christmas wreath sales, area suppers, the VFW Steak Fry and other events. Among the group's most valuable contributions to the community are the annual scholarships awarded to Nashua School seniors.

Fundraising activities this year have included a sloppy joe feed held at the Jan. 15 Nashua/Scobey basketball game, and another feed planned for the game against Dodson on Jan. 29. Show your support for these high-minded young people (and the Porcupines!) by saving room for a meal. For more information, contact Joe Laumeyer at (406) 785-4611.
