Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Barbara Jo Johnson

Barbara Jo Johnson, 67, passed away in Billings on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1948, in Langton, N.D. Her mother was a teacher and taught in several schools where they lived, including Miles City and then Bozeman. While in Bozeman, she met the love of her life while cruising Main. She and Marvin were married on Dec. 18, 1964. They then lived in Glasgow and then moved to Sidney, where they lived and worked for 46 years. While in Sidney, she worked as the personal secretary to the President of The Sidney National Bank. He also was the mayor of Sidney, and she joked that she did more City of Sidney business than bank business.

After banking, she then went to work for the insurance business for over 40 years. First for the Sidney Insurance Agency, which later became Aim Insurance.

She was a member of the Sidney Jaycees and Pella Lutheran Church. She learned to hunt and fish so she could spend more time with her husband. She fished several walleye tournaments with her husband in North Dakota and the standing joke in the house was about all the tournaments her husband fished - but the only Walleye trophy in the house was hers for the largest walleye caught in a tournament.

She loved to cross-stitch, crochet, bake, do crossword puzzles and to have coffee with the Nygards and Belakjons. She also looked forward to our annual fishing and camping trip in the fall to Holter Lake.

She is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother. She is survived by her husband, Marvin; a sister-in-law, Linda; one son, Brad Blomer, of Glasgow; a sister-in-law, Judy, and her husband, Bruce McMaster, of Helena; a brother-in-law, Donald "Bim" and his wife, Bonnie, of Great Falls; and a special little friend, actress Lexi Erdahl of East Helena.

At her request, there are no services planned and, if you wish, a donation can be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Kidney Fund or organization of your choice.
