Scrappy Scotties Quiet Glendive Crowd

Roundup Proves Too Tough

The Glasgow Scottie girls basketball team spent more time on the road this weekend than they did on the hardwood. Traveling to Glendive and Roundup for their first games of the season, the Lady Scotties chalked up one win and one loss.

Facing class A Glendive Red Devils on Friday night, the girls got off to a slow start, scoring only four points in the first quarter. However, it didn't take them long to shake the nerves and find their rhythm. They outscored their opponent in each of the remaining three quarters, and earned the win with a final score of 52-39.

Leading scorers for the team were Abbi Kolstad (15), Leinie Hughes (13), and Jordan Kulczyk (10). Also making their mark in the scorebook were Tyra Johnson (7), Khloe Krumwiede (5), and Lexi Nixdorf (2). Clearly carrying the weight for her Red Devil team was Wyniah Mintz with 21 of the team's 39 points.

Nixdorf and Demi Aune both fouled out of the game in the final period with Krumwiede and Johnson both knocking on the door of foul trouble as well with three fouls each.

After an early morning return to Glasgow, and a short window of opportunity for rest, the team climbed back on the cruiser for their furthest away game of the season in Roundup.

The Panthers came on the court with fresh legs to play their first game and dominated the Scotties in scoring for the first three quarters of the game. The Lady Scotties came back with a vengeance in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Panthers by 11 points. It was too little too late, however, and the Scotties fell to the Panthers with a final score of 43-36.

Leading the girls in scoring in Saturday night's game were: Tyra Johnson (11), Khloe Krumwiede (8), and Abbi Kolstad (7). Also finding the basket were Leinie Hughes (4), Lexi Nixdorf (4), and Jordan Kulczyk (2).

The Lady Scotties were again close to foul trouble with Nixdorf & Hughes each coming away with four fouls by the end of the game.

At the very least, our Lady Scotties are proving to be a scrappy, tenacious team determined to make their mark.

Glasgow will be playing Baker at home this weekend in another non-conference game.
